Summer Holiday Activities

Join us this summer holiday for lots of pony-fuelled fun!

We’ve plenty of activities for children who are new to horse riding, including Pony Hours, Led Hacks and Pony & Activities Camp days as well as activities for smaller children like Tots’ Pony Hour and our new Teddy Bears’ Ride & Picnic.  Our regular riders also have a range of activities to choose from, including 4-Day Riding Camps, Pony & Activities Camp, Sports Day. Le Trec sessions, Pole Clinics, Show Jumping and more!

Led Hack (led pony ride)

Monday 27 July:

Meet our friendly ponies and join us for a gentle Led Hack through Loughton.
This activity is suitable for beginners and parents are welcome to join us for the 30-minute walk.

Teddy Bears' Ride & Picnic

Tuesday 4 August:   11.30 am – 1.00 pm   Age 3 – 6 years  £38 

In this special activity for younger children, we’ll be heading out on a leisurely Led Hack whilst your teddies will be helping our team to get the picnic ready for your return back to the stables!  If the weather is fine, we will be picnicking in the fields, but if it is rainy, we will move the picnic under cover.

This activity is suitable for beginners and parents are welcome to join us for the walk or remain on site for the ride to return.  Please note all riders must wear trousers for comfort, not shorts or skirts (leggings or joggers are suitable for riding).  Teddies can wear what they like! 

Children should be accompanied by a maximum of 2 adults (no siblings or pushchairs please). 
This activity is ideal for younger children to try a pony ride but numbers are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment!

Once booked, please contact Reception (email: admin@ridehighequestriancentre.co.uk)  if your child has food allergies or specific dietary requirements as we will be providing the picnic food and drinks for the children.

Tots' Pony Hour

Monday 17 August:   2.00 pm – 3.00 pm   Age 3 – 6 years  £38 

In this fun session for smaller children, we will go out on a Led Hack for half an hour and spend half an hour getting hands-on grooming and decorating the ponies.  In this session children will have fun outside, learn new skills and gain confidence around horses. 

Children should be accompanied by a maximum of 2 adults (no siblings or pushchairs please). 
This activity is ideal for younger children who would like to try a pony ride and meet our friendly ponies.
How to book

Pony Hour

Monday 27 July:   11.30 am – 12.30 pm    
Monday 3 August:  2.00 pm – 3.00 pm 
Age 4 – 12 years | £38 

Pony Hour is a fun session where children spend half-an-hour riding (usually a Led Hack) and half-an-hour getting hands-on on the yard, grooming, decorating and sometimes bathing ponies (weather permitting).  This is a great opportunity for children to have fun outside, learn new skills and gain confidence around horses.  

Children may be accompanied by a maximum of 2 adults (no siblings or pushchairs please) or can be left for the session.
This activity is ideal for beginners.

Join us for a Holiday Club with a difference!

Children will have a full, fun-packed day at the Equestrian Centre – with a range of activities to get them active and making friends.  They’ll also be getting very hands-on with our friendly ponies, learning about grooming, feeding and mucking out, as well as enjoying a pony ride and decorating the ponies with chalks and accessories!  Children will need to bring a packed lunch, a snack, a waterproof coat and a named water bottle with them.  Please wear sunscreen if it is sunny.

This activity is suitable for children who have never ridden as well as children who can already ride.

Private Lessons

We have scheduled a range of 30-minute private lessons in the Indoor and Outdoor schools for one-to-one tuition over the Summer Holidays.  For new riders private lessons are an ideal introduction to horse-riding and for graded riders, private lessons are a great opportunity to work with an instructor on aspects of your riding that you feel less confident about, or just as a special treat!

Summer Riding Camps

July Riding Camp:
Tuesday 21 July – Friday 24 July – £390 – 2 x places remaining for L5/L6 only (at 18/06)
August Riding Camp:
Tuesday 25 – Friday 28 August – £390 – 2 x places remaining for L3 (Outdoors) but riders suitable for smaller ponies only (at 18/06)

If you would like to join a camp, a £90 deposit is required upon booking, with the balance due at the start of either July or August, depending on which camp.  This activity must be booked directly with Reception and is not on ECPro.

Sports Day

Thursday 30 July:  10.00 am – 3.30 pm   |  £60

L3 (Outdoor) & over

New for the summer!  Riders will be grouped in teams of mixed grades for the day and teams will compete in a number of activities during the day with points totted up and team prizes awarded at the end of the day.  Activities will include: 

🏅 non-ridden gymkhana games
🏅 non-ridden, blindfolded obstacle course (with guide)
🏅 a ridden competition
🏅 a mystery challenge

It will be a full day of fun, but numbers are limited, so early booking is recommended!  Competitors will need to bring their hat, boots, body protector and a packed lunch.

An Introduction to Polo

Friday 31 July 

Age 8 – 12 years: 10.00 am – 12.30 pm | £50
Age 13+: 11.30 am – 1.00 pm | £50

New for this summer we are holding an Introduction to Polo.  The sessions will be run by a professional polo player.

The sessions will cover:

🏑  Understanding polo tack
🏑  Mallet practice (in pairs)
🏑  Swing practice (on a wooden horse)
🏑  Demonstration
🏑  Try out your skills on a pony

Participants will need to bring their hat, gloves, boots and body protector. Riders will grouped by age and numbers are strictly limited, so book early to avoid disappointment! 

Show Jumping

Tuesday 4 August 

L5 & L6: 10.00 am – 11.30 am | £55
L4: 11.30 am – 1.00 pm | £55
L3 (Outdoor): 2.00 pm – 3.30 pm | £55

These sessions are for our graded L3 (outdoor) – L6 riders to practice their show jumping:  Each group will have a practice session, followed by a fun show jumping competition, with rosettes awarded!  Parents are welcome to watch from the outdoor shelter.  Numbers will be limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Pole Clinic

Monday 10 August 

L5/L6:  10.00 am – 11.00 am | £42
L3 (Outdoor) / L4: 11.00 am – 12.00 pm | £42

Pole work involves riding over trotting-poles lying on the ground at a controlled pace –  it is an excellent tool to improve riding skills for jumping.  In these pole clinics we’ll be using the poles to focus on and improve steering, balance, impulsion and accuracy, with exercises appropriate to your level of riding.  Tasha’s Pole Clinics are also a lot of fun!

Le Trec

Thursday 20  August 

L5/L6:  10.00 am – 11.00 am | £42
L3 (Outdoor) / L4: 11.00 am – 12.00 pm | £42

Le Trec tests rider navigation skills and the horse’s ability to tackle different terrain and natural obstacles.   We will be doing the obstacle section, which recreates in the arena, natural hazards you may encounter out hacking.  All obstacles are optional, but you’ll lose points for missing one.  Numbers will be limited for this fun activity, so we advise early booking!

Hacks

Why not make the most of summer to get out of the school and come hacking with us?

Walk, Trot Hack:
Friday 21 August:  3.00 pm – 4.00 pm

L3 (O) and over | £40 

Join us for a gentle hack exploring local bridleways.  This activity is only open to our riders graded L3 (Outdoors) and over.

Walk, Trot, Canter Hack:  
Friday 21 August:   9.30 am – 10.30 am | 10.30 am – 11.30 am

L4 and over | £40

 On this ride out we will explore local bridleways and this hack will probably include canter (ground and weather permitting).   This activity is only open to our riders graded L4 and over.

Horse Mastership - Feeding

Friday 31 July : 10.00 am – 11.00 am | Graded Riders

In this session we’ll be finding out about the basic rules of feeding horses and how to recognise different feedstuffs.

Important Information:

Please observe our Site Rules:

  • Please do not come onto site if you feel unwell.
  • Children should wear closed-toe shoes or boots with a small heel as our stable yard has uneven and muddy surfaces.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes before your booking slot to enable hat fitting etc.
  • Please ensure pony tails are low (for hat fitting).
  • All jewellery and body piercing must be removed when riding and doing any handling or ground work on the yard.  Stud earrings with butterflies are acceptable in the ears only.
  • Children must wear trousers e.g. leggings, joggers or jodhpurs for comfort when riding.  Children wearing shorts or skirts will not be allowed to ride.  Please do not wear vest tops or crop tops – all shoulders and tummies should be covered for safety.
  • We have a strict 12 stone weight limit – please be aware of this if booking activities for older teens.
  • If the weather is likely to be wet, please bring a waterproof coat.
  • Please wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle if the weather is likely to be sunny or warm.

How to book:

To book activities please use our online booking system EC Pro.  Please note that in order to use the system you first need to register your details. 
Here’s what you need to do:

1. Visit https://ride-high.ecpro.co.uk/

2. Register by completing your account details

3. Verify your email by clicking the automated link sent to you by email (check your spam if you don’t receive instantly)

4. Login with your email and password details

5. Add riders to your account by following the instructions to click on the link to rider registration

6. Rider Registration must be completed with up-to-date details of each rider (including height and weight) so we can provide the most suitable pony

7. Submit your rider registration details by clicking the submit button

8. You can add more riders under the same account if you need to.

Once you have registered you can then download the EC Pro app from your app store or access EC Pro via your web browser. Just search EC Pro and then log in with your email address and password.
You can find Holiday Activities in EC Pro under: book a lesson>group lesson> then look up the date the activity is on to view and book it. 

Cancellation:
We ask for 48 hours notice for a cancellation. Otherwise the full fee will be payable.
