Aim High, based at the Ride High Equestrian Centre is a tranquil green space where young people can get active, learn new skills and enjoy being outdoors. The Centre is set in 37 acres of countryside in the heart of central Milton Keynes, easily accessible by bus and train.
Learning real-world skills outside of the classroom enables participants to reach their potential socially, emotionally and academically.
We have extensive experience delivering tailored programmes for children and young people, recognising that horses and the outdoor environment provides an amazing way to learn vital skills and we are excited to be collaborating with Haddon Training Limited to deliver an Alternative Education Provision that will provide students with valuable skills and the option to gain qualifications and experience that will improve their employment prospects in the equine industry.
Our team are experienced working with SEND individuals and will work in partnership with parents and carers to ensure that each student has a personalised and appropriate educational programme that will meet student needs with due regard to safeguarding, risk assessments and expected outcomes.
Young people aged between 13 – 25 years with an existing EHCP. Students must be at least 14 years old to enrol (if they have a birthday just after the start date then we normally can adjust a little). They can attend until 25 years old when their EHCP comes to an end.
Our Alternative Education Provision is primarily for children and young people who because of exclusion, illness or other reasons such as SEND or SEMH, would not otherwise receive suitable education. This might include:
The courses have been designed specifically for those with SEND or additional needs. Students will complete a range of practical and theoretical work to build a portfolio to submit at the end of the academic year. This can be done with videos/ photos/ witness statements/ audio recordings and many other ways to meet the needs of each student. The majority of the time will be in the practical learning environment and there will be some additional class time to assist with constructing the student’s portfolio. There are no exams.

Parents / Carer or Local Authority (LA) contact us via email or phone to discuss student details and EHCP needs. We will then organise an informal meeting with the prospective student onsite for them to meet the team and for us to assess their need. Next the parent / carer will contact the LA to state this is where they would like to attend. Finally, the LA sends a consultation letter for us to reply to, to check we can meet the need.
Upcoming drop-in sessions (no booking needed). Come and meet us, see the facilities, and learn more about the programme:

Haddon Training has been delivering high-quality education, personalised and accessible learning experiences for more than 2 decades. Working with Aim High UK, based at the Ride High Equestrian Centre, Haddon Training’s Alternative Education Provision offering supports those who may encounter challenges in traditional academic settings, promoting an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and pursue personal growth through learning.
Haddon has designed these Alternative Education Provision courses to support children and young people who may struggle to learn in classrooms. Instead the learning is done in places with animals, where students learn real skills and also get a qualification that can help them gain employment.
Haddon can also provide Functional Skills (Maths and English) training if this is needed.
