Indie is the smallest member of our yard, but he has one of the biggest personalities! You’ll usually see Indie in lead-rein lessons and heading out with our smallest riders on Led Hacks, and he always looks after his rider. He’s also popular with our yard team as he’s a bit of a comedian and pulls some amazing faces for the camera! Indie is a very friendly soul and loves to come and say hello, so do stop by and give him a neck scratch if you see him in his stable!

Barbie (or Barbara as the staff call her!) is a friendly Dartmoor Hill Pony, a sturdy native breed who has settled in quickly and gets on well with the other ponies. She’s happy on the lead-rein for our smallest riders, but is also forward and a fun ride for our more capable smaller riders. She doesn’t like standing still, so will fidget at the mounting block, as she loves her work and is keen to get on with it! She loves visitors, so do stop and say hello if you see her in her stable.

Cutie by name and definitely cute by nature! Our team describe her as “a babe” – she’s a typical Welsh Section A pony, brave and adaptable, with a big personality, despite her diminutive size! We’ve found her to be great in our groundwork and lead-rein sessions, happy to take a little one for a Led Hack, but she also steps up a gear for our more competent smaller riders and loves her jumping. Do say hello to Cutie if you see her on the yard!

Micky joined the team in 2022. He’s a cute, cuddly, friendly chap with a gorgeous thick mane and tail. As a youngster, he’s very inquisitive and is still learning his role with us, but he is doing well in lessons and is proving to be a fast learner!

Mr Tubs joined Ride High in 2025, and he’s proving to be a soppy soul with a sensible and steady attitude when ridden in the school. He has just started working as a lead-rein horse in our sensory sessions for older teens and is showing an aptitude for this work as he is calm and unflappable. Whilst he’s a slightly odd-looking horse, with his enormous ears, his coat is a striking liver chestnut colour and beautiful when the sunlight catches it. In the stable he can be grumpy and likes his food, so please do let him enjoy his peace and quiet if you see him in there.

Poppet joined Ride High in the summer of 2023 and she really lives up to her name! She has a super personality, calm and kind, she’s a thoroughly lovely girl! Poppet is a very versatile horse, she works with our supported learners on the yard and is proving popular in riding lessons – we’ve found she looks after beginners but is able to switch up a gear and be a fun, responsive ride for more capable riders.

Moana is a friendly mare, with a lovely calm disposition. She joined the Equestrian Centre in early 2024 and after the birth of her filly Te-Fiti in April ‘24, she has now returned to work and has settled back into riding lessons beautifully. A kind, gentle mare, she always tries her best for her rider and she’s very popular because she’s such a lovely person! Moana loves a fuss, and her laid-back personality means she’s great for groundwork as well as lessons in the school – do say hello if you see her on the yard!

Puddle is a genuine and friendly mare who knows her job and is happy with her routine at Ride High. She’s well schooled and is a good all-rounder in lessons as well as being safe and sensible out hacking. She’s also a very pretty girl and has become popular with both our teenage riders and the team on the yard because of her lovely nature. Puddle does love her peace and quiet in the stable, so please don’t crowd at her door – she’ll be happy to say hello to you if you see her on the yard!

Twix is a very sweet mare who joined Ride High in 2025. She has settled in well, and although she is young and a little green, she is proving to be a fast learner in the school and becoming popular with our smaller but more capable riders. She is a kind and friendly pony who likes meeting people, so do say hello and give her a scratch on the neck if you see her in her stable!

Tommy is a happy soul and a lovely person, although he can be tricky to lead on the ground. He’s a considerate and friendly pony in the school and a safe set of hooves for our young riders. Tommy is great teaching beginners to jump and is very adaptable, proving to be a fun ride for beginners as well as our more advanced riders on the flat. Tommy likes greeting visitors, so make sure you say hello if he’s in when you go past!

Rapunzel joined Ride High in 2025. She’s not your “typical” cob and is a forward, responsive ride but is also kind and looks after her rider. She has settled in well; we’ve found she has a lovely friendly nature and does like to say hello, so do give her a pat if you see her in her stable!

Heidi is the petite princess of our yard! She loves to be groomed and always looks after our smallest riders in the school. She mustn’t have treats and we restrict her grazing to keep her well (you may spot her in the fields with her grazing muzzle on).
Heidi always loves a fuss and cuddle, so do come and say hello if you see her!

Like Heidi, Dream is a very pretty welsh mare and a bit of a “princess”! Dream is also typical of her breed in that she can be cheeky and likes to play games on the ground. Our riders find her a fun and forward ride in the school and she’s a popular choice with our more advanced but smaller riders.
Dream enjoys her quiet time in the stable and we ask that you respect her privacy when she’s in and don’t crowd her stable door, but you can always say hello to her in the school!

Little Berry joined the Ride High family in autumn 2024. She’s a very friendly, kind and steady mini cob, who works well in lead rein lessons, giving our youngest and smallest riders confidence in the saddle.
Berry is also fabulous on the ground and happy to stand and be pampered by the children, she’s become very popular with our team for her lovely nature. Do say hello to Berry if you see her in her stable.

Arty is a very kind and good-natured pony who joined Ride High in 2025 and has settled in well. Although he is young, he is proving to be a very safe set of hooves who always looks after his rider and is trustworthy to lead on the ground. He provides confidence for our more nervous children with his kind, gentle attitude. Arty likes meeting people so do say hello to him if you see him in his stable!

Reggie is a working livery who joined the yard in autumn 2024. He’s a Welsh Section A pony who loves cuddles and is proving to be a great schoolmaster for more nervous children and lead-rein riders. He’s also a very good listener and has such a sweet nature that he’s swiftly becoming a yard favourite – Do say hello if you see his little face peeking over the stable door!.

Apricot is a very pretty girl with striking blue eyes. She’s a working livery and as she is fairly young, she is still learning the ropes in the school and you will usually find her in our more advanced lessons. Her forward nature and love of jumping have made her a popular choice for our more advanced teenage riders and smaller adults. Apricot does enjoy peace and quiet in the stable, which is why her box is not on the main yard and she finds lots of visitors a bit overwhelming, so we don’t recommend stopping at her stable to say hello.

Balou is a handsome bay gelding who is popular working livery as he’s a great all-rounder with a brave heart! He also has an extra pace – as a standard bred X, he will sometimes “pace”, but is equally happy trotting and cantering when asked. In previous homes he gained a wide range of experience including XC and dressage and he’s a willing and safe partner in the school or out hacking. Balou has also hunted and he loves jumping which means he’s very popular with our teenage riders!

Autumn is a beautiful, young chestnut mare with a very pretty face and a lovely nature to match. She’s a working livery who joined Ride High in 2025 and is very sweet and eager to please. Do say hello if you see her on the yard!

Bracken is a working livery who has spent most of his life at Ride High, having joined us as a youngster before he began his ridden career. He enjoys his work and is a cheeky gypsy-type cob who likes to pull faces for the camera! He’s an ideal pony for our more advanced riders to hone their skills on as he is a forward ride, despite his little legs, and he’s a super jumper.
Horses are traditionally measured in hands and inches from the ground up to the base of the horse’s neck.
A hand is 4 inches so a 14. 2 hands high (hh) pony means 14 hands and 2 inches. Therefore 58 inches from the ground to his shoulder/base of neck.
In the horse world every horse that looks white is called grey. Horses that are grey can be born any colour, however, bay, chestnut, or black base colours are most common. As the horse matures, white hairs begin to replace the base or birth colour – which explains why our snowy white Treacle probably got her name!
