Moana is a friendly mare, with a lovely calm disposition. She joined the Equestrian Centre in early 2024 and after the birth of her filly Te-Fiti in April ‘24, she has now returned to work and has settled back into riding lessons beautifully. A kind, gentle mare, she always tries her best for her rider and we think she will soon be as popular as the lovely Monnie. Moana loves a fuss, and her laid-back personality means she’s great for groundwork as well as lessons in the school – do say hello if you see her on the yard!

Poppet joined Ride High in the summer of 2023 and she really lives up to her name! She has a super personality, calm and kind, she’s a thoroughly lovely girl! Poppet is a very versatile horse, she works with our supported learners on the yard and is proving popular in riding lessons – we’ve found she looks after beginners but is able to switch up a gear and be a fun, responsive ride for more capable riders.

Apricot is a very pretty girl with striking blue eyes and although technically skewbald, her colouring is more lemon and white. She joined the Ride High family in 2024 but as she is fairly young, she is still learning the ropes in the school and you will usually find her in our more advanced lessons. Her forward nature and love of jumping have made her a popular choice for our more advanced teenage riders and smaller adults. Apricot does enjoy peace and quiet in the stable, which is why her box is not on the main yard and she finds lots of visitors a bit overwhelming, so we don’t recommend stopping at her stable to say hello.

Like Heidi, Dream is a very pretty welsh mare and a bit of a “princess”! Dream is also typical of her breed in that she can be cheeky and likes to play games on the ground. Our riders find her a fun and forward ride in the school and she’s a popular choice with our more advanced but smaller riders.
Dream enjoys her quiet time in the stable and we ask that you respect her privacy when she’s in and don’t crowd her stable door, but you can always say hello to her in the school!

Carrie is definitely vying with Heidi for the prettiest pony award! She has a big personality, despite her diminutive size – She doesn’t like to be idle and is a fun, forward ride for our more competent younger riders, as her little legs can move very fast – which was great for the summer’s gymkhana games; but she is also a sensible and kind pony on the lead-rein with beginners. Do say hello to Carrie if you see her on the yard!

Buster is a friendly chap and a very safe set of hooves, he’s happy looking after our beginners but is also a fun ride for our more advanced riders. In a previous life he was a dressage champion and he still very much enjoys his work in the school – in fact we tried retiring him, but found he’s much happier keeping busy and staying active, so he rejoined the school! Do come and say hello to him if you are on the yard.

Garfield joined Ride High in 2025 and he’s already very popular with our riders and the team on the yard. A traditional “leg-in-each-corner” type of cob, he’s a sturdy boy with an amazing head of hair and a cheeky personality. He has settled well at the yard and his favourite activity is playing “Yum or Yuck” with the children as that involves food!
To ride, Garfield is a forward pony and we’ve found he is great for our more advanced, smaller riders, but he also works well on the lead rein with our beginners. Do say hello to Garfield if you see him on the yard!

Mannie works well on the lead rein with our beginners, so he’s a very adaptable pony and popular with lots of our riders as well as his owner! Otto works in our higher level lessons and is a fun, forward going ride.
Horses are traditionally measured in hands and inches from the ground up to the base of the horse’s neck.
A hand is 4 inches so a 14. 2 hands high (hh) pony means 14 hands and 2 inches. Therefore 58 inches from the ground to his shoulder/base of neck.
In the horse world every horse that looks white is called grey. Horses that are grey can be born any colour, however, bay, chestnut, or black base colours are most common. As the horse matures, white hairs begin to replace the base or birth colour – which explains why our snowy white Treacle probably got her name!
