We had a brilliant Easter with lots of new visitors to the yard as well as our regular riders joining us for heaps of fun activities. We kicked off the holiday break with our Easter Egg Trail on Good Friday, which was lovely and sunny and the children enjoyed collecting their tokens to exchange for an Easter egg at the end of their ride as well as rewarding their pony with a carrot.
We followed this with a show jumping competition and hacking as well as our popular Pony & Activities Camp days where the children met the farrier, learned about mucking out and had lots of fun bathing and grooming the ponies. As part of our Horse Mastership Programme, our first group passed their Road Rider badge in the Easter Break, which included a written test and an individual ridden exam on the roads – we saw a few nervous faces, but everyone successfully completed the ridden exam and aced the test! We will be running a further Road Rider course in the summer holidays. We rounded off the holiday break with a 3-Day riding camp where children who ride with us regularly practiced bareback riding, pony games and other activities we don’t usually do in lessons!
Our Show Jumping competition winners were as follows:
L3: Lucy & Mouse
L4: Willow & Bracken
L5: Sophie & Gunner
L6: Ruthie & Trelly
Well done to everyone who took part! Here’s some snaps from the Easter Holidays:
