We had a brilliant Easter, welcoming lots of new visitors to the yard as well as our regular riders joining us for heaps of fun. We began the holiday break with hacks for our regular riders and led hacks for younger children and children who were new to riding.
Prix Caprilli was the main event in the first week of the holidays, with a practice session in the morning and the main competition in the afternoon – blessed with fine weather, we enjoyed watching our riders showing off their skills in the school. We held 3 Pony & Activities Camps which were all fully booked and on those days the site echoed to the sound of LOTS of children having fun – many of them were new to horse riding and we had some lovely feedback from parents about how much their children enjoyed their day with us!
The second week of the Easter break included our 2.5 day Riding Camp for our regular riders and some of our riders were also sitting their Horsemastership Road Rider badges. This course involves theory, a walk through on foot on the road and a ridden practice session in the school. Later in the week the students returned to sit a written theory exam and a ridden exam on the road – everyone passed their theory and those who didn’t pass the ridden exam were very close to passing and we are confident they will succeed when the course runs again later in the year. We rounded off the holiday break with a hacks on the Bank Holiday Monday – the weather wasn’t as kind as it had been for most of the Easter break, but the rain was only light and intermittent!
