Level 1 Horse Care

Learners can choose between modules and will gain experience in areas such as:

  • Feeding and watering
  • Rugging up
  • Tacking up and untacking
  • Leading horses
  • Catching and turning out
  • Health and safety
  • Mucking out
  • Working relationships
 

To gain a City & Guilds Level 1 qualification in Horse Care*, students will study a set number of credits to gain an  Award, Certificate or Diploma:

Award (6 units) (1)

On completion of Level 1 there is a possible Level 2 Horse Care progression route at Ride High Equestrian Centre coming in 2026. 

*Please note this is a non-ridden qualification.

How do I apply?

Parents / Carer or LA contact us via email or phone to discuss student details and EHCP needs.  Then we will organise an informal meeting with the prospective student onsite for them to meet team and for us to assess their need.  Then parent / carer contact Local Authority to state this is where they would like to attend.  LA then send consultation letter for us to reply to check we can meet need.
