October Half Term Fun

This autumn, visit Ride High Equestrian Centre for lots of fun!  

We have 3 Pony & Activities Camp Days, a Ridden Trick or Treat Trail and Led Hacks that are great for children who are new to horse riding, as well as children who have ridden before.  We also have two Hacks for our regular, graded riders and a new Horsemastership session where we’ll be learning how to design and build a show jumping course!  Read on to find out more…

Activities for everyone:

Ridden Trick or Treat Trail

Friday 31 October:  
10.00 am – 10.30 am  | 10.45 am – 11.15 am  |   11.30 am – 12.00 pm  |   12.15 pm – 12.45 pm  

Age 3 – 14 years | £35

This October Half Term we’re getting a little spooky with a ridden Trick or Treat Trail!  Children will meet our friendly ponies and enjoy a led pony ride along our tricky Trail with the promise of a treat at the end!  This fun activity is suitable for all children aged 3 – 14, with no experience necessary, and parents can walk along with us and take photos if they wish.  Hallowe’en costumes are encouraged for this activity, but please ensure children wear trousers underneath any costumes for comfort when riding.  Closed-toe shoes or boots, ideally with a small heel, are also essential.

Pre-booking is required as numbers will be strictly limited.

This activity is suitable for beginners and parents are welcome to join us for the walk, but please, NO PUSHCHAIRS or siblings walking alongside for safety reasons.
How to book

Pony Hour

Monday 27 October:
10.00 am – 11.00 am  |   11.30 am – 12.30 pm

Age 4 – 14 years | £38

Pony Hour is a fun session where children spend half-an-hour riding (usually a Led Hack) and half-an-hour getting hands-on on the yard, grooming, decorating and sometimes bathing ponies (weather permitting).  This is a great opportunity for children to have fun outside, learn new skills and gain confidence around horses.  Children may be accompanied by a maximum of 2 adults (no siblings or pushchairs please) or can be left for the session.
This activity is ideal for beginners.

Led Hack (led pony ride)

Monday 27 October:
2.00 pm – 2.30 pm  | 2.45 pm – 3.15 pm

Age 3 – 12 years | £33

Meet our friendly ponies and join us for a gentle Led Hack through Loughton.
This activity is suitable for beginners and parents are welcome to join us for the walk, but please, NO PUSHCHAIRS or siblings walking alongside for safety reasons.

Pony & Activities Camp

Tuesday 28 October, Wednesday 29 October and Thursday 30 October 

10.00 am – 3.30 pm | Age: 5 – 12 years | £60  

Join us for a Holiday Club with a difference! 

Children will have a full, fun-packed day at the Equestrian Centre – with a range of activities to get them active and making friends.  They’ll also be getting very hands-on with our friendly ponies, learning about grooming, feeding and mucking out, as well as enjoying a pony ride and decorating the ponies with chalks and accessories! 

This activity is suitable for children who have never ridden as well as children who can already ride.

Please note, children must be left for this session (parents cannot wait onsite) and children must bring a packed lunch and named water bottle with them.

Private Lessons

Friday 31 October

During Half Term we have scheduled 30-minute private lessons in the Indoor and Outdoor schools for one-to-one tuition. These are a great opportunity to work with an instructor on aspects of your riding that you feel less confident about, or just as a special treat!  L3 Outdoor riders are welcome to book into Indoor slots if they wish.  Children who are new to riding can also book a one-to-one private lesson (select Assessment Lesson) and begin learning to ride.

Hacks

Walk Trot Hack:  

Sunday 26 October     10 am – 11 am  |   L3 (Outdoor) and over  |  £40 

We’ll be heading out for an hour’s gentle hack (walk and trot only), exploring the local countryside and practicing the skills we have learned in the school. This hack is open to riders who already have regular lessons with us and are graded L3 and over.

Walk, Trot, Canter Hack: 

Sunday 26 October   11 am – 12 pm   L4 and over    £40

This hack will include walk and trot and probably canter (ground and weather permitting).  WTC hacks are open to riders who already have regular lessons with us and are graded L4 and over.  All riders must be happy to canter.

Horsemastership

Building Show Jumps: Friday 31 October   3.00 pm – 4.00 pm  Age 11  and over  £6 (members) / £16 (non-members)

How to design and build a showjumping course, the types of fences we might include, how to space jumps apart for safety, what makes certain jumps more tricky, and considering how a well-designed course can offer a variety of routes and levels of difficulty for the rider and horse. We will also have a go at designing our own courses!  This activity is exclusively for riders who are graded.

Our October Half Term Schedule

Important Information:

Please observe our Site Rules:

  • Please do not come onto site if you feel unwell.
  • Children should wear closed-toe shoes or boots with a small heel as our stable yard has uneven and muddy surfaces.
  • Please arrive 10 minutes before your booking slot to enable hat fitting etc.
  • Please ensure pony tails are low (for hat fitting).
  • All jewellery and body piercing must be removed when riding and doing any handling or ground work on the yard.  Stud earrings with butterflies are acceptable in the ears only.
  • Children must wear trousers e.g. leggings, joggers or jodhpurs for comfort when riding.  Children wearing shorts or skirts will not be allowed to ride.
  • We have a strict 12 stone weight limit – please be aware of this if booking activities for older teens.
  • If the weather is likely to be wet, please bring a waterproof coat, gloves are also a good idea if it is cold.

How to book:

To book activities please use our online booking system EC Pro.  Please note that in order to use the system you first need to register your details. 
Here’s what you need to do:

1. Visit https://ride-high.ecpro.co.uk/

2. Register by completing your account details

3. Verify your email by clicking the automated link sent to you by email (check your spam if you don’t receive instantly)

4. Login with your email and password details

5. Add riders to your account by following the instructions to click on the link to rider registration

6. Rider Registration must be completed with up-to-date details of each rider (including height and weight) so we can provide the most suitable pony

7. Submit your rider registration details by clicking the submit button

8. You can add more riders under the same account if you need to.

Once you have registered you can then download the EC Pro app from your app store or access EC Pro via your web browser. Just search EC Pro and then log in with your email address and password.
You can find Holiday Activities in EC Pro under: book a lesson>group lesson> then look up the date the activity is on to view and book it. 

Cancellation:
We ask for 48 hours notice for a cancellation. Otherwise the full fee will be payable.
